Dr. Rosalin Miles
Organizing Committee Member
Dr. Rosalin Miles is Nlaka’pamux and a member of Lytton First Nation. She has worked as her community’s Band Administrator, and currently serves as the advisor for her community. With Lytton First Nation Elders, she is currently working on a children’s physical activity book in her native language, Nlaka’pamuxcin. She is also the Executive Director of the Indigenous Physical Activity & Cultural Circle, the key non-profit organization partnering on this initiative. Dr. Rosalin Miles also serves as a Research Associate and First Nations advisor within the Indigenous Studies in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia. She has gained international acclaim leading influential events (such as the annual National Indigenous Physical Activity & Wellness Conference). She has been on the Board of Directors of the Aboriginal Mother Centre Society for six years and has volunteered with the Musqueam Indian Band for more than 10 years where she currently resides on their traditional territory. Prior to this she was the Executive Director of the Aboriginal Women’s Health and Healing Research Group where she facilitated gender-based analysis work, and she has completed the three CIHR Institute of Gender and Health Core Competency modules, and is a Sex and Gender champion for women. She completed her Education, Doctoral Degree, Curriculum and Instruction, major Exercise Science, and her Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management at the University of Central Florida with International Honours. She completed her Master’s degree in Human Kinetics, specializing in Coaching Science, at UBC, her BA degree, Physical Education major, at Trinity Western University, and a diploma in Ph. Ed. At Langara College. She brings a wealth of lived experience working to improve the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples across North American.
