Indigenous Acknowledgement
We would like to acknowledge the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
We were honoured to have Indigenous Elders and community leaders, Elder Gail Sparrow (Musqueam Indian Band), Dr. Rosalin Miles (Lytton First Nation), and Chief Janet Webster (Lytton First Nation), as members of our local organizing committee. They were instrumental in ensuring that we honoured the traditions, languages, and cultures of Indigenous peoples.
At the start of each day, we made a land acknowledgement that “we are gathered on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.”
